Mimosa Sundays: So Long Summertime

So long summertime. Tomorrow is Labor Day which sadly officially marks the end of summer. Ah summer… my favorite time of year. It’s truly inspiring – all that light, all those bright colors, lush greens, big blue skies, and fields of sunflowers. Even the dry, crispy, yellow hills in our beautiful (drought-stricken) California are alluring to me. Today I’m taking a look back at summer’s inspirations.

A few months ago Sarah Schwartz, editor of Stationery Trends magazine asked me if I’d provide their summer issue with some words on what was inspiring me for the season. It was a pleasure to do this since I was (still am) obsessing on two color palettes:

In addition to color, nothing feeds the creative soul more than travel.  My family’s summer travels to the Teton Mountains, Lake Tahoe, and the beautiful Columbia River Gorge in Oregon did not disappoint. New cards incorporating the spirit of these places are coming soon! In the meantime, below are three of my Steller stories from our road-trip. If you are on Steller, let’s follow each other’s stories. If you are not on Steller, get thyself there soon because its’ so cool. If you love photography, you’ll be obsessed with it.

Lastly… as always, I was in pursuit of the most incredible stationery stores and gift shops wherever we went on our travels. While we were in Jackson Hole, WY our friends took us to two awesome stores called Made and Mountain Dandy. If you’re ever in Jackson, you have to find them! Another über cool store we found, that is not to be missed, was in Truckee, CA and it’s called Bespoke. On the last leg of our trip we found Oblation Papers & Press in Portland, OR, which is one of my favorite stores that carry Sky of Blue Cards. If your coordinates ever find you on the corner of NW 12th & Glisan you simply must stop by! I snapped this shot of their beautiful store on our way to Andina for dinner one night in the Pearl.

Farewell, summer. Until next year.
xoxo, Karla
